AVP, Shariah Advisory – Consumer Banking

About the role

The Assistant Vice President will support Consumer Banking by providing Shariah advisory, research, and secretariat services for Islamic banking products. The role ensures compliance with the Higher Shariah Authority, Internal Shariah Supervision Committee, AAOIFI standards and UAE regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Shariah advisory on the design, structuring, review and implementation of Islamic consumer banking products, ensuring alignment with HSA, ISSC and AAOIFI standards.
• Coordinate ISSC secretariat activities, including meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, minute taking, and follow‑up on action items.
• Review agreements, SOPs, marketing materials and system configurations for Shariah compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct Shariah research, prepare technical papers, and maintain databases of resolutions, pronouncements and governance documents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shariah, Islamic Finance, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in Shariah advisory, compliance, research or Islamic banking product review.
• Strong understanding of CBUAE Shariah Governance Framework, HSA requirements and AAOIFI standards.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with AAOIFI Shariah standards and Islamic banking product documentation.
