Backend Engineer

About the role

Deel is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its fast‑growing team in Dubai. You will work on core services that power a global work platform, collaborating with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver high‑impact features.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to create seamless user experiences.
• Participate in product planning from discovery through deployment, contributing to every stage of the software development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, and enhance robust new features and APIs while continuously improving existing services.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs quickly, maintaining the “Deel Speed” of delivery.
• Ensure a customer‑centric experience by delivering high‑quality, reliable backend solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience as a software engineer.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, with experience in at least one additional server‑side language.
• Deep expertise with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL, including query optimization, migrations, and data modeling.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable systems that handle high transaction volumes, concurrency, and idempotency.
• Experience building secure, performant APIs with input validation, JWT authentication, and queue‑based architectures.
