Beverage Manager

About the role

The Beverage Manager is responsible for beverage operations and staff on a daily basis, covering beverage service in the restaurants/bars and room service. The position promotes the lounge, helps with menu planning, maintains standards, supports servers during peak periods and manages liquor inventories and controls, while keeping the operating budget and ensuring guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with food and beverage policies, standards and procedures, and with beverage and liquor laws, through training, supervision and hands-on management.
• Manage beverage control, including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, portion control, cost controls, sales analysis, issue and returns, food standards and period-end inventory.
• Monitor adherence to liquor control policies and manage inventories according to budget and business levels.
• Assist with menu and promotion development, and attend pre- and post-convention meetings to understand group needs.
• Supervise staffing levels so that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met, and train staff on liquor control policies.
• Provide excellent customer service, gather guest feedback, handle complaints and review comment cards and satisfaction results with the team.
• Support the departmental orientation programme, participate in corrective action plans and help strengthen the food and beverage team by assisting in other outlets when needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related major.
• 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary or a related field, or 2 years of experience with a 2-year degree.
