Business Development Manager - Electric Power Plants (AME)

About the role

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division (EPD) is looking for a Business Development Manager to grow its electric power plant business in the Africa, Middle East and Europe (AME) region. The role covers building customer relationships, generating leads and selling new Prime Power products and associated Balance of Plant equipment (switchgear, enclosures, CHP). It sits within a team of BD managers and industry consultant managers.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong customer relationships with key prime genset users, EPC and engineering firms.
• Develop a pipeline for future sales of prime and continuously running power plants.
• Ensure assigned customers have a positive experience and act as the industry expert for Caterpillar's genset portfolio in EAME and CIS.
• Identify gaps in product offerings and feed customer feedback back to product groups.
• Create go-to-market strategies to increase sales of prime running generator sets and lead projects to gain buy-in for them.
• Plan, set and achieve the business plan while driving sales and Go-To-Market strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in customer focus and relationship management, with a hunter's approach to anticipating and exceeding customer needs.
• Working knowledge of the power generation industry, including prime running generators, combined heat and power and balance of system, and awareness of the regulatory environment.
• 15+ years in the power generation industry, sales or aftermarket roles, and at least 7 years in a similar customer-facing business development role.
• Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in English; Arabic, Portuguese or French is a plus.
• Willingness to travel, typically 50-75% of the time, and to work onsite five days a week; relocation is not offered.
