Business Development Manager – Retail (Hypermarkets & Supermarkets)

About the role

The Business Development Manager for the retail division will lead the growth of Majid Al Futtaim’s hypermarket and supermarket network. You will identify new market opportunities, drive geographic expansion, and optimise existing stores to maximise profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market research to pinpoint growth markets, consumer trends and competitive dynamics.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive expansion strategy for targeted regions.
• Analyse real‑estate opportunities, including site selection, lease negotiations and property acquisition.
• Lead cross‑functional teams through planning and execution of new store openings, ensuring projects stay on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with construction, legal and marketing teams to guarantee smooth launch processes.
• Manage timelines, budgets and resource allocation for expansion projects.
• Analyse financial performance of new and existing stores, providing insights to optimise profitability.
• Track ROI on expansion projects and report results to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in business development or expansion within the hypermarket/supermarket industry.
• Proven track record of managing multiple expansion projects and delivering significant revenue growth.
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budget management and strategic planning.
• Familiarity with real‑estate development, site selection and lease negotiations.
