Cake Artist / Chef de Partie

About the role

JW Marriott in Dubai is looking for a Cake Artist (Chef de Partie) to prepare special meals and substitute items, cook food according to recipes and quality standards, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals or substitute items and prepare cold foods
• Regulate oven, broiler, grill and roaster temperatures, and pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish, and monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared
• Maintain food logs and follow recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and food preparation checklists
• Communicate assistance needed during busy periods and inform the Chef of excess food for daily specials
• Tell Food & Beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items
• Anticipate guest service needs and speak clearly and professionally with colleagues
• Support the team, build positive working relationships and act as a role model
• Follow company and safety policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training, and keep a clean, professional appearance

Required profile

• Preferred: technical, trade or vocational school degree
• Preferred: at least 3 years of related work experience
• No supervisory experience required
• Physical ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods, bend, twist and lift up to 25 pounds
