Capillary Operator - Well Services

About the role

The Capillary Operator is a skilled field specialist who operates capillary and coiled tubing equipment for well services. Reporting to the Capillary Supervisor, the operator works on‑site to execute capillary jobs, mentor assistant operators and ensure safe, efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect spooling units, level‑wind mechanisms, hydraulic systems, brakes and tension controls.
• Perform mobilization and demobilization, including loading, off‑loading and positioning of equipment.
• Convey work strings in and out of the well without kinking or bird‑caging, monitoring for visual defects and abnormal tension readings.
• Complete job tickets, pressure‑test records and logbooks accurately.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic field equipment.
• Assist with asset and inventory counts and enforce Permit to Work (PTW) procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma, GED or Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in capillary or coiled tubing operations (slickline experience is a plus).
• IWCF or IADC WIPC Level 2 certification preferred, or actively pursuing certification.
• Physically fit for up to 12‑hour shifts.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Operation of spooling units, injector heads and pressure control equipment (PCE).
• High‑pressure testing procedures for PCE.
• Well control awareness and wellhead pressure management.
• Ability to read and interpret job programs, well schematics and equipment manuals.
• Preventive maintenance of hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic equipment.
• Accurate technical record‑keeping and field data documentation.
