Captain A320 (UAE National)

About the role

Air Arabia is hiring a Captain for the A320, based in Sharjah, to conduct assigned flights in line with the Airline Operational Manual and civil aviation regulations. The captain is ultimately responsible for the aircraft's safety, security and efficiency, supports and guides the flight and cabin crew, handles emergencies and ad-hoc scenarios and takes control of the flight.

Key responsibilities

• Fly the assigned aircraft according to schedules and approved flight plans, prioritising safety, efficiency and passenger comfort.
• Ensure flights follow the Operations Manual and regulations, and that crew are present, groomed and fit.
• Conduct pre-flight briefings and liaise with co-pilots and dispatch on aircraft status, route, weather, fuel, weight and roles.
• Optimise fuel use within safety limits and ensure safety, security, fuel and transit checks are done before, during and after each flight.
• Direct crew reactions to safety or security irregularities and escalate when needed.
• Cooperate with maintenance engineers and seek support from MCC and MROs; load technical logs and documents accurately.
• Keep the Operations Manual up to date and stay current with regulatory requirements.
• Take on additional ground-based safety or security roles as directed by the line manager.

Required profile

• Appropriate ATPL licence; technical and psychometric pilot assessments and medical fitness check passed.
• Minimum 4,000 hours of flying, Airbus A320 preferred; low-cost airline experience highly desirable.
• Training in safety and emergency response, airport and security procedures, CRM and IATA security principles is an advantage.
• Very good English; other local languages are an advantage.
• Exposure to QA/safety/security/audit procedures and to safety, security or audit roles.

Required skills

• Proficiency in aircraft systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication, technical reporting and presentation skills.
• Data analysis, problem solving and decision making under heavy workload and ad-hoc scenarios.
