Cargo Operations Manager

About the role

The Cargo Operations Manager will lead dnata handling, warehouse and ramp activities, ULD and palletised operations, and bulk‑loading processes for flydubai. The role ensures safety, regulatory compliance and revenue optimisation as cargo volumes grow across Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).

Key responsibilities

• Define operational objectives and implement approved strategies, policies and procedures for safe, efficient and revenue‑optimised cargo handling.
• Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures across all cargo activities.
• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, service failures and customer complaints, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare and monitor KPIs and safety performance targets in line with UAE GCAA standards.
• Oversee day‑to‑day cargo operations at DXB and DWC, ensuring consistent handling standards with dnata and other ground partners.
• Identify and recommend infrastructure, automation and resource needs for short‑, medium‑ and long‑term growth.
• Coordinate with third‑party service providers to ensure SLA compliance and operational readiness for all aircraft types.
• Support cargo product development, including system automation and launch of specialised cargo services.
• Maintain cargo‑related documentation within the Ground Handling Manual and ensure regulatory alignment.
• Manage cargo safety, security and risk frameworks in partnership with Safety & Security teams.
• Liaise with customs, health, police and other authorities to facilitate smooth cargo movement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum 3 years of study).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in cargo operations, freight handling or aviation ground operations.
• Proven experience managing large operational teams in cargo or ground handling environments.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Advanced Cargo & Dangerous Goods certifications (e.g., IATA CBTA, UAE GCAA FIT4.1D).
• Safety Management Systems, Aviation Security and Special Cargo Products certifications.
