Charge Nurse – Tower B5 (Medical Wing)

About the role

The Charge Nurse for Tower B5 in the Medical Wing oversees daily operations and ensures smooth patient flow within the unit. This role coordinates administrative duties, supervises nursing and support staff, and acts as a clinical resource to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care in line with SSMC’s mission and values.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient‑ and family‑centered care.
• Liaise with the Nurse Manager to ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix.
• Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, coaching and support.
• Coordinate efficient use of human resources, consumables and equipment.
• Oversee direct and indirect patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Coordinate referrals and utilize resources for comprehensive care.
• Administer medications according to policies and collaborate with pharmacy services.
• Assist in emergencies and provide clinical guidance to the care team.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Ensure timely interventions and discharge planning by liaising with other providers.
• Provide comprehensive handover reports and attend patient care rounds.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of healthcare systems and clinical processes.
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse multidisciplinary workforce.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and patient advocacy.
• Experience supervising staff according to training level and patient acuity.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
