Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant manages banking, payroll and accounting transactions so that all records are analysed, reconciled and processed in line with IFRS standards and company policy. The role also covers month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory filings and liaison with auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage banking, payroll and accounting transactions and build relationships with banks, government entities and suppliers.
• Carry out month-end and year-end closing, including revenue recognition and intercompany reconciliations, and prepare monthly financial statements (cash flow, P&L, balance sheet), cost analysis and annual budgeting reports.
• Review accounting records and financial statements for accuracy, completeness and compliance with reporting standards.
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, oversee payroll costing integrity, fixed asset tracking and ledger reconciliations.
• Help develop accounting and finance control policies, and support forecasts and budgets.
• Close the monthly trial balance and support year-end closing budgets with stakeholders.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll transactions, and contribute to monthly GL schedules.
• Handle VAT reporting, VAT and tax filings, external audit, ESR filing and commercial registration renewals, and prepare financial data for audit.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, implement audit recommendations and improve operations.
• Oversee online banking transactions, bank guarantees and compliance with internal, external and HSEQ regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum of six years of relevant experience.
• Mandatory professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent.
