Chief Resident Engineer – Bridges & Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Chief Resident Engineer with a background in Bridges & Infrastructure to lead a large project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role acts as the supervision consultant for critical bridge projects, setting the highest standards of quality, safety and regulatory compliance, and guides a team of resident engineers while coordinating with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across feasibility studies, detailed design, construction management and commissioning
• Manage project budgets, timelines and resources while keeping costs effective and risks low
• Carry out structural analysis and design reviews using industry-standard software and methodologies
• Develop and implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies
• Mentor and supervise resident engineers and technical staff
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, government agencies and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations and quality standards
• Analyse site conditions, geotechnical data and environmental factors to inform engineering decisions
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation and project recommendations for senior management and clients
• Stay current with emerging technologies and sustainable design practices

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of professional civil engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or resident engineer / construction manager capacity
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects with budgets exceeding AED 50 million
• Professional engineering license or equivalent certification in civil/structural engineering
