Chief Risk Officer – Lead Enterprise Risk Management

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Risk Officer to lead the Enterprise Risk Management function of a leading bank in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure a robust, compliant risk framework aligned with CBUAE regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously enhance the bank's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
• Oversee Credit, Operational, Market & Liquidity Risk functions.
• Monitor credit portfolio quality, concentrations, delinquency trends, and NPLs.
• Ensure compliance with CBUAE regulations, Basel III/IV, and internal policies.
• Direct stress testing, ICAAP, business continuity, disaster recovery, and recovery planning.
• Manage third‑party and outsourcing risk assessments.
• Prepare and present risk reports to executive management, the Board Risk Committee, and the Board of Directors.
• Develop and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and enterprise‑wide risk assessments.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders to strengthen governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, CAMS, CIA, or ERM are highly desirable.
• Minimum 15 years of banking experience, including at least 5 years in a senior risk‑management leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of Basel III/IV, ERM frameworks, ICAAP, stress testing, and regulatory reporting.
• Proven experience working with the Central Bank of the UAE and other regulators.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, and board‑level presentation skills.
