Civil Inspector - Marine Works

About the role

The Civil Inspector monitors and inspects all civil construction activities for the SWRO desalination project in Fujairah, UAE. The role ensures that site works follow approved drawings, specifications, quality standards and safety requirements, supports the QA/QC team and works closely with contractors and engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine site inspections of civil works, including foundations, concrete structures, pipelines, tanks and marine works (intake/outfall).
• Ensure construction complies with approved drawings, specifications and project standards, and monitor workmanship and materials.
• Verify alignment, levels, dimensions and structural integrity of works.
• Witness and record tests such as concrete pouring, compaction and material testing.
• Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, contractors and site engineers, and review method statements and inspection test plans before execution.
• Maintain inspection records, reports and documentation, and support handover inspections and close-out documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and assist in resolving civil construction site issues.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 8-12 years of experience in civil inspection for construction or infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience in SWRO desalination or large water treatment projects is preferred.
• Experience in the Middle East, preferably UAE.
• Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection protocols and documentation; certification in quality inspection or QA/QC preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of concrete works, structural inspection and marine construction.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, BS).
• Attention to detail, reporting skills and ability to work independently and coordinate with site teams.
