Civil Inspector – Water Distribution Projects

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Civil Inspector to support the Resident and Assistant Resident Engineers in supervising water distribution network construction for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The role involves day‑to‑day site inspection, ensuring works follow approved drawings, specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Resident and Assistant Resident Engineers to supervise works in proper sequence and quality.
• Perform daily site inspections of contractor activities, flag deviations and coordinate corrective actions.
• Inspect water network installations, including excavation, pipe laying, chambers, valves, fire hydrants and backfilling.
• Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and industry standards.
• Attend and witness field and laboratory tests such as pressure testing, flushing, disinfection, water‑quality sampling and compaction testing.
• Inspect delivered materials for damage and contractual compliance before use.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, photographic records and inspection reports.
• Support non‑conformance reporting, snagging and final inspections on project completion.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BE or BSc) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• Minimum 2 years of site inspection experience, preferably in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of water network systems and associated civil works.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and test plans.
• Experience with trenching, excavation, shoring and backfilling processes.
• Good understanding of HSE requirements for confined spaces, excavation, lifting and work at height.
• Fluent English reading and writing.
• Availability for full‑time work and a six‑day week on site as required.
