Civil Inspector - Wet Utilities

About the role

The Civil Inspector – Wet Utilities will inspect and monitor the construction of wet utility infrastructure, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor construction of wet utility works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Supervise water transmission and distribution networks, potable water pipelines, irrigation networks, stormwater drainage, foul sewer networks and pumping stations.
• Monitor excavation, trenching, pipe laying, bedding, backfilling, manhole construction and utility crossings.
• Witness and verify pressure, leakage, hydrostatic, CCTV inspections, flushing, disinfection and commissioning activities.
• Review and process Inspection Requests, prepare daily inspection reports and maintain records of tests and non‑conformances.
• Coordinate with resident engineers, utility engineers, contractors, authorities and client representatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of construction supervision and inspection experience, including at least 5 years on wet utility projects.
• Experience with water, sewerage, stormwater, irrigation and utility corridor projects, preferably with private developers or municipal authorities.
• Familiarity with UAE utility authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, DEWA, RTA) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pipe materials, fittings and valves (HDPE, DI, GRP, GRE, PVC, uPVC, reinforced concrete).
• Ability to read engineering drawings, utility profiles and construction details.
• Experience with utility testing and commissioning procedures (pressure, hydrostatic, CCTV, flushing, disinfection).
• Proficiency in QA/QC documentation, inspection reporting and construction management systems.
• Strong command of MS Office.
