Civil Quality Control Inspector (QCI)

About the role

SGS, the world‑leading testing, inspection and certification company, is seeking experienced Civil Quality Control Inspectors to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role focuses on inspecting civil and structural works on EPC and construction projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards and the Inspection and Test Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of civil activities such as excavation, formwork, rebar placement, concrete finishing and backfilling.
• Verify that materials and workmanship meet approved specifications, standards and the ITP.
• Review and approve civil work procedures, method statements and checklists before execution.
• Witness and document quality control tests (slump, cube, compaction, etc.) and prepare inspection and NCR reports.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering and QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues and monitor subcontractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (ASTM, ACI, BS, ISO) and client specifications, and support internal/external audits.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience as a Civil QCI on EPC or construction projects, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical or industrial sectors.
• Familiarity with project specifications, QA/QC procedures, ITPs and method statements.
• Knowledge of international standards such as ASTM, ACI, BS and ISO.

Required skills

• Civil and structural inspection techniques (excavation, formwork, rebar, concrete finishing, backfilling).
• Concrete testing methods (slump test, cube test, compaction test).
• Preparation of inspection reports, non‑conformance reports and corrective action records.
• Application of ASTM, ACI, BS and ISO standards in construction quality control.
