Civil Structural Engineer – Passive Protection Systems

About the role

This role plans and supervises civil and structural engineering activities for the Contractor's and Subcontractors'/Suppliers' scope of work on the design, construction, installation and commissioning of critical asset and facility passive protection systems at Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP). It ensures compliance with Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) requirements, and leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers and contractors through all project phases, from design to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all civil and structural engineering design phases, from concept development to issue-for-construction, for the critical assets passive protection project at BNPP.
• Ensure new designs and modifications meet BNPP design requirements, operating license conditions, regulatory requirements and commitments.
• Review civil engineering technical documents, design changes, non-conformance reports and other contractor documentation, giving comments to ensure technical compliance and quality.
• Oversee civil construction activities such as excavation, backfilling, rebar installation, concrete placement, structural steel erection and architectural finishing.
• Ensure works follow licensing and design requirements, contractual obligations, project schedules and safety and quality standards.
• Provide technical input to contractor civil works and project control deliverables as a functional team member.
• Support licensing, quality surveillance, construction, materials, commercial and other teams in resolving project issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• 7 to 8 years of relevant experience.
