Clinical Engineer

About the role

The Clinical Engineer is responsible for the operational condition, maintenance and repair of medical equipment and related mechanical/electrical systems at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. The role ensures patient and staff safety while delivering professional customer service to clinical and research personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with medical and research staff to verify equipment functionality and safety.
• Repair, calibrate and maintain Group I and Group II medical equipment and instrumentation.
• Inspect, install and commission a wide range of medical devices, including patient monitors, ECGs, blood gas analyzers, X‑ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, and more.
• Perform tests on equipment to prevent electrical or mechanical hazards.
• Use hand tools, test equipment, measuring devices and manufacturer manuals for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, vendors and external service technicians to ensure timely service delivery.

Required profile

• Associate's degree with training in at least two diagnostic imaging or related areas.
• 3–5 years of experience servicing sophisticated medical equipment.
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical problems in biomedical equipment.
• Strong customer support skills and PC competency, including knowledge of computer networks.
• Healthcare industry experience preferred.
