Coastal Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is expanding its coastal engineering practice in the Middle East and seeks a passionate Coastal Engineer to join the land development team. You will work on high‑profile coastal and maritime infrastructure projects across the UAE, KSA and beyond, collaborating with multidisciplinary experts.

Key responsibilities

• Support proposal preparation, business development and tender technical inputs.
• Undertake hydrodynamic, wave, sediment transport and water quality modelling using MIKE21, Delft3D and related tools.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports and project documentation for coastal structures, marinas, beaches and reclamation works.
• Conduct met‑ocean assessments, analyse wind, wave, tide and water level data and apply international standards.
• Engage with clients and support project delivery, including occasional regional travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Coastal, Civil or related engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in coastal and marine engineering projects, preferably in the UAE or Middle East.
• Experience designing coastal structures, marinas, shoreline protection, intakes/outfalls, quay walls or reclamation projects.
• Working toward professional accreditation or chartered status is desirable.
• Strong communication, report‑writing and commercial awareness.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MIKE21 software.
• Proficiency with Delft3D software.
• AutoCAD.
• GIS software.
