About the role
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join AECOM in Abu Dhabi. In this pivotal role you will oversee commercial and supervisory operations for civil and infrastructure projects, ensuring coordination among stakeholders while adhering to budgets, timelines and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and manage civil and infrastructure projects from inception through completion, ensuring compliance with specifications, safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee commercial aspects including contract administration, procurement and vendor management to optimise project profitability.
- Monitor project budgets and costs, analyse variances and implement corrective measures to maintain financial performance.
- Lead and mentor project teams, fostering collaboration while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimise delays and cost overruns.
- Prepare and present comprehensive project reports, progress updates and performance metrics to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety and environmental standards across all project activities.
- Analyse project data and performance indicators to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Manage change orders, claims and disputes in accordance with contract terms and organisational policies.
Required profile
- Minimum 15 years of experience in commercial management and civil/infrastructure project supervision.
- Proven track record managing large‑scale infrastructure projects with budgets exceeding $10 million.
- Strong expertise in contract administration, procurement and commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies, building codes and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of UAE and Abu Dhabi regulations, compliance requirements and local business practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing cross‑functional teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement at all levels.
