Commis 1 – Garde Manger (Food & Beverage)

About the role

The Commis 1 – Garde Manger supports the culinary team at W Hotels on Yas Island, preparing cold dishes, special meals and ensuring all food is presented to the highest standards. This full‑time, on‑site position requires strict adherence to safety, quality and portion guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and complete food preparation checklists.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters; pull items from freezer to thaw safely.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement and garnish of dishes; maintain accurate food logs.
• Communicate assistance needs during busy periods and inform chefs of excess items for daily specials.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling and employee coaching as needed.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school qualification.
• Minimum three years of related culinary experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
