Commis 1 - Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi, a luxury hotel offering Turkish hospitality, is hiring a Commis 1. The role involves preparing dishes, maintaining kitchen standards and assisting the Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Meet and exceed customer and team member expectations, and communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and supervisors.
• Follow hotel policies, procedures and personal hygiene standards, and arrive on time in the correct uniform and name badge.
• Monitor the cleanliness of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Prepare the working station and mise en place according to daily requirements and part stock lists, and check that assigned staff follow their tasks.
• Control portion sizes and presentation before dishes go to the pass.
• Make a full handover to the supervisor of the next shift and carry out other duties assigned by management.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and know the daily specials, promotions and the usual menu, including recipes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the culinary field is required.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma/certification in culinary arts preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, as part of a cohesive team, while staying calm and courteous toward guests.
