Commis Chef at Josephine Restaurant

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Commis Chefs to join the culinary team at Josephine, the waterfront Mediterranean restaurant located in Rixos Premium Dubai, JBR. This entry‑level position offers the chance to develop culinary skills in a high‑quality, day‑to‑night dining environment overlooking the Arabian Gulf.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie with daily food preparation and mise en place.
• Prepare ingredients according to recipes, specifications and senior chef instructions.
• Assist with cooking and plating of dishes during service.
• Maintain portion control, recipe adherence and presentation standards.
• Store, label and rotate ingredients following FIFO procedures to minimise waste.
• Keep work areas clean and organized; clean equipment and utensils to required standards.
• Follow all food hygiene, HACCP, health and safety requirements.
• Communicate any product shortages, quality concerns or equipment issues to the Chef de Partie.
• Support other kitchen sections as needed and demonstrate willingness to learn new techniques.

Required profile

• Previous culinary experience in a hotel, restaurant or professional kitchen is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Passion for cooking, strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Good teamwork and communication skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Culinary school graduates and candidates at the start of their professional culinary career are welcome.
