Commis Chef – Entry Level Kitchen Role

About the role

Join our dynamic kitchen team as a Commis Chef, supporting senior chefs and gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Leadership & Relationship Management – support senior chefs, maintain discipline, foster teamwork, coordinate with Demi Chef and Chef de Partie, and assist with basic station tasks.
• Compliance & Safety – follow food‑safety, hygiene and health regulations, adhere to sanitation procedures, use equipment safely, and keep the workstation clean.
• Training & Development – attend training sessions, apply feedback to improve speed and accuracy, assist new commis chefs, and stay eager to learn new skills.
• Financial Management – minimise food waste, follow portion guidelines, support inventory control, and ensure accurate recipe execution.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery or a related field (apprenticeship acceptable).
• 1‑2 years of experience in a professional kitchen or completion of culinary training with practical exposure.
• Basic knowledge of food‑safety regulations, HACCP guidelines, hygiene practices and proper food‑handling procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with senior chefs and maintain consistent quality.
