Commis II – Heartist Cafeteria (Full‑Time)

About the role

The Commis II will support the kitchen team in the Heartist Cafeteria at Fairmont Ajman, preparing high‑quality meals for staff while maintaining the hotel’s standards of hygiene, presentation and service. This full‑time, onsite position offers the chance to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment within a 5‑star beachfront resort.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily preparation, cooking and presentation of breakfast, lunch, dinner and special meals for Heartists.
• Prepare ingredients – washing, peeling, cutting, portioning and storing – according to approved recipes.
• Maintain consistency in taste, temperature and visual appeal of all dishes.
• Support buffet setup, replenishment and monitor food levels during service periods.
• Follow HACCP, FIFO and temperature‑control procedures; report any quality concerns immediately.
• Keep the kitchen, equipment and workstations clean and hygienic, complying with hotel food‑safety standards.
• Assist with receiving, checking and storing food supplies as needed.
• Support other kitchen sections during busy periods and adhere to health‑and‑safety policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Commis or in a professional kitchen (preferred).
• Experience in staff cafeterias, hotels, restaurants or high‑volume kitchens is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food hygiene.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, multicultural setting.
• Good teamwork and communication skills; flexible to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
