Commis (Kitchen Assistant) – Full-Time

About the role

The Commis 2 supports the culinary team at Four Points by Sheraton in Sharjah, preparing ingredients and assisting in the daily production of high‑quality dishes. This full‑time, on‑site position is ideal for individuals with a passion for food service and a desire to develop their kitchen skills in a hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling and measuring according to recipes.
• Cook and assemble cold and hot dishes, ensuring presentation and quality standards are met.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Monitor cooking progress, test food for doneness and maintain temperature controls.
• Set up and break down work stations, clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools and equipment.
• Serve food in correct portions and maintain proper food storage.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in food preparation or a similar kitchen role.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
• Professional appearance and good communication skills.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers.
• Food preparation techniques (chopping, portioning, measuring).
