Commissioning and Start-up Manager

About the role

SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking an experienced Commissioning and Start‑up Manager to lead the final phases of EPC projects in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for coordinating mechanical completion, commissioning, and hand‑over activities, ensuring that all systems meet performance and regulatory standards before entering operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate resolution of technical issues across engineering, construction, and procurement teams.
• Act as the technical lead for mechanical completion and commissioning activities at vendor shops, fabrication yards, and the site.
• Manage interfaces with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to address commercial and technical concerns.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of design change notices (DCNs) and field change requests (FCRs).
• Define testing criteria for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and ensure all punch‑list items are recorded and closed.
• Develop and execute site performance test procedures and contribute to the overall project systems completion schedule.
• Monitor design and fabrication progress of process equipment packages and support the creation of the Turn‑over to Operations plan.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience (120 months) in commissioning, mechanical completion, or start‑up on large‑scale EPC projects.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and complex technical interfaces.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, performance testing, and hand‑over processes in the energy sector.
