Competent Person Electrical Engineer – Transmission Line (UAE)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Competent Person (CP) Electrical Engineer to lead transmission line construction activities in the United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on safe, compliant execution and close coordination with engineering, HSE, QA/QC and client teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the CP for all transmission line construction, installation, erection, testing and related site activities.
• Supervise and monitor works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, method statements and project specifications.
• Conduct site inspections, identify hazards, review work permits, risk assessments and enforce safe working practices.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, HSE, QA/QC and client representatives to resolve technical issues.
• Monitor lifting, excavation, tower erection, stringing and conductor installation, ensuring proper safety controls around energized systems.
• Report incidents, near‑misses and non‑conformities and support corrective actions.

Required profile

• BE/BTech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission line projects, including at least 3 years in the UAE/GCC.
• Strong knowledge of HSE requirements, work permits, risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors, consultants and client representatives.
