Consultant - Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Consultant in Emergency Medicine will deliver high‑quality, ethical clinical services to patients at Royal Khalifa City Hospital. The role demands rapid decision‑making in emergencies, comprehensive patient assessment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage emergency cases, providing rapid treatment and selecting appropriate consultants for additional guidance.
• Examine in‑patients on wards/ICU, render immediate judgments, and advise nursing staff on medical issues.
• Respond to remote medical advice requests via radio‑telephone and participate in ambulance trips when needed.
• Complete accurate medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with DOH reporting requirements.
• Provide on‑call emergency coverage, work all scheduled shifts, and attend departmental meetings and training sessions.
• Monitor clinical indicators, support quality improvement initiatives, and adhere to infection‑control, patient‑safety, and accreditation standards (JCI, ISO).

Required profile

• Qualified and licensed medical practitioner with a basic medical degree and recognized fellowship/diploma.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience at consultant level, including at least 1 year in a Tier 1 country as defined by UAE regulators.
• Active registration in a specialty recognized by the UAE healthcare authority.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
