About the role

The Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will deliver expert, patient‑centered care for individuals with physical impairments, disabilities and functional limitations. Working within a multidisciplinary team at Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital, you will lead comprehensive rehabilitation programs and help shape high‑quality services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient PM&R services, including diagnosis, treatment planning and functional rehabilitation.
• Manage complex cases such as neurological, musculoskeletal, spinal cord, post‑surgical and chronic disability conditions.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to rehabilitation medicine.
• Lead and collaborate with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing and psychology teams.
• Develop individualized rehabilitation plans focused on functional recovery, pain management and quality of life.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, DOH regulations and international best practices.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives and service development.
• Participate in teaching, mentoring and supervision of junior medical staff.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree with accredited specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Board certification (Arab Board, European Board, UK CCT/CCST, American Board or equivalent).
• Eligibility for licensure as a Consultant with the Department of Health (DOH) – Abu Dhabi.
• Proven experience managing complex rehabilitation cases in a hospital or specialized setting.
• Strong communication, leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
