Consultant Intensivist - ICU

About the role

A leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE is hiring a Consultant Intensivist on a full-time basis. The consultant manages critically ill patients in the ICU, with expertise in intensive care, advanced life support, mechanical ventilation and the treatment of sepsis, septic shock, respiratory failure, ARDS and multiorgan dysfunction.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage critically ill patients in the ICU
• Manage patients with sepsis, septic shock, respiratory failure, ARDS and multiorgan dysfunction
• Provide advanced respiratory support, including invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
• Perform endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterization, arterial line placement and other critical care procedures within authorized clinical privileges
• Manage hemodynamically unstable patients requiring vasopressors, advanced monitoring and organ support
• Lead emergency resuscitation and coordinate stabilization of critically ill patients
• Interpret investigations such as arterial blood gases, ECG, laboratory tests, CT scans and bedside ultrasound
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, surgeons and other specialists
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians, ICU nurses and critical care team members
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, ICU protocols, infection control and patient safety standards

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Medicine / Intensive Care Medicine, or an accepted primary specialty with advanced critical care training
• Board certification or equivalent consultant-level qualification; American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable
• Minimum 5-10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred
• Eligible for the appropriate DOH Consultant classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to UAE PQR requirements
