Consultant Neonatologist (American Board, Western Qualified)

About the role

The Government Healthcare Facility in Sharjah seeks an experienced Consultant Neonatologist to lead its advanced neonatal and pediatric services. You will provide comprehensive care for premature and critically ill newborns while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage newborns requiring intensive neonatal care, including premature, low‑birth‑weight, and critically ill infants.
• Diagnose and treat complex neonatal conditions such as respiratory, cardiovascular, infectious, neurological, and metabolic disorders.
• Perform advanced neonatal resuscitation, stabilization, and oversee mechanical ventilation, CPAP, and high‑flow oxygen support.
• Coordinate care for neonates with congenital anomalies and surgical conditions alongside pediatric surgical teams.
• Provide antenatal and perinatal consultation for high‑risk pregnancies in collaboration with obstetric teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, clinical audits, teaching, research, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree with recognized postgraduate qualification in Neonatology or Pediatrics.
• American Board certification in Pediatrics with a Neonatology fellowship or equivalent Western qualification.
• Established consultant‑level experience in a leading tertiary‑care hospital or advanced NICU.
• Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Required skills

• Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization techniques.
• Management of mechanical ventilation, CPAP, and high‑flow oxygen therapy.
• Expertise in caring for premature, high‑risk, and surgically complex neonates.
