Consultant Neonatology

About the role

The Consultant Neonatology will join Tawam Hospital’s Neonatal Division in Al Ain, providing expert clinical care to newborns and leading the junior medical team. The role combines direct patient management with administrative, quality, and educational responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinical activities of junior staff and ensure high‑quality care for in‑patients and out‑patients.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Support and implement hospital policies, performance management, and resource utilization.
• Participate in recruitment, scheduling, and division meetings as required.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives, audit processes, and incident reporting.
• Promote education, supervise junior staff, and contribute to continuing medical education and research.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Neonatology.
• Board certification (e.g., American Board, CCT UK, Australian) and post‑board experience.
• Tier 1: Minimum 2 years as a consultant or equivalent; Tier 2: Minimum 8 years full‑time consultant experience.
• For UAE nationals, clinical fellowship years count double toward experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a clinical team and engage in quality and educational activities.
