Consultant Obstetrics & Gynecology

About the role

Ain Al Khaleej Hospital in Al Jimi, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist for its Women Center. The consultant provides comprehensive, evidence-based medical and surgical care for women, covering antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, and the diagnosis, treatment and management of gynecological conditions, including routine and high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies. The position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient consultations, examinations, diagnosis and treatment of obstetric and gynecological conditions
• Manage routine and high-risk pregnancies, including antenatal assessments, maternal monitoring, fetal growth surveillance and investigations
• Manage labor and delivery, including normal vaginal deliveries, assisted deliveries and cesarean sections
• Diagnose and manage obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, and provide postnatal care
• Treat gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, pelvic infections and menopausal disorders
• Perform gynecological surgery such as hysterectomy and ovarian cystectomy within the physician's competence and approved privileges
• Provide family planning, contraceptive counseling, infertility assessment, cervical cancer screening and preventive women's healthcare
• Interpret laboratory results, ultrasound and other diagnostic tests, and keep accurate medical records
• Collaborate with nurses, midwives, anesthesiologists, pediatricians and neonatologists, obtain informed consent and uphold patient confidentiality
• Take part in clinical audits, quality improvement, morbidity and mortality reviews and continuing medical education, and comply with hospital policies and UAE healthcare regulations

Required profile

• Recognized medical degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS or equivalent)
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology suitable for a Consultant
• Minimum 8 years of relevant clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Demonstrated experience in high-risk pregnancies, labor and delivery, gynecological conditions and obstetric emergencies
• Proven clinical and surgical competence for the Consultant scope of practice
• Valid Department of Health - Abu Dhabi professional license or eligibility to obtain it, meeting Consultant classification requirements
• Current BLS and other life-support certifications as required by hospital policy
• Excellent clinical decision-making, communication, leadership and teamwork skills, commitment to patient-centered care and quality improvement
