Consultant Paediatric Infectious Disease – Tawam Hospital

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Disease to join Tawam Hospital, part of SEHA, in Al Ain. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care to children with infectious conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical excellence by diagnosing, managing and treating paediatric infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret investigations, prescribe therapies and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Lead ward rounds, supervise junior doctors, residents and GP staff, and provide training and mentorship.
• Collaborate with other specialties, attend multidisciplinary meetings and ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in on‑call rotation covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, DOH and infection‑control policies.
• Engage in quality‑improvement activities, clinical audits and risk‑management initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a recognised paediatric infectious disease specialty qualification (e.g., Board Certification, Royal College Fellowship, or DOH‑approved Tier 1/2 qualification).
• Postgraduate degree such as MD, MS or DNB is preferred.
• 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Valid DOH licence to practise in Abu Dhabi (or eligibility for one).
