Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist

About the role

We are seeking a distinguished Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting infants, children and adolescents. The role involves delivering comprehensive, patient‑centred eye‑care services using advanced diagnostic techniques, evidence‑based treatments and surgical expertise within a leading UAE hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, diagnosis and management for paediatric patients.
• Manage congenital, developmental and acquired eye disorders, including strabismus, amblyopia, refractive errors and ocular motility disorders.
• Perform and oversee paediatric ophthalmic procedures and surgeries where applicable.
• Collaborate with paediatricians, neurologists, geneticists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Board certification in Paediatric Ophthalmology or Ophthalmology with a recognised paediatric fellowship.
• Recognised Tier 1 qualification (ABMS, Canadian Royal College, UK CCT/CCST or equivalent).
• Minimum 3–5 years post‑specialisation experience in paediatric ophthalmology.
• Eligibility for consultant‑level licensing with DHA, DOH or MOHAP.

Required skills

• Extensive experience in paediatric ophthalmic surgery.
• Advanced knowledge of strabismus management.
• Expertise in diagnosing and treating childhood eye disorders.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and surgical skills.
