Consultant Physician – General Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Physician – General Medicine leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. Reporting to the Division Chief, the role combines clinical excellence with leadership, training junior staff and ensuring optimal service coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, manage and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for general medicine.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, overseeing their clinical activities and ensuring safe patient care.
• Participate in performance‑management processes, including peer review, productivity and utilization reviews.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment and administrative duties.
• Lead ward rounds, review investigations, adjust treatment plans and document clinical information promptly.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, attend divisional meetings and coordinate referrals from emergency and primary‑care services.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification in General Medicine.
• Extensive clinical experience in a tertiary‑care hospital setting.
• Proven leadership and teaching abilities.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and hospital policies.
