Consultant Physician – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

About the role

The Consultant Physician in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based critical care at SSMC. You will supervise junior medical staff, ensure optimal patient outcomes, and contribute to the department’s clinical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the ICU team, overseeing diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.
• Implement hospital policies, performance management, peer review, and utilization review processes.
• Assist the Division Chief with staffing schedules, recruitment, and ensuring continuous medical coverage.
• Conduct ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients, and document clinical information promptly.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties, and ensure appropriate referrals and on‑call coverage.
• Maintain compliance with admission, discharge, and procedural protocols while optimizing resource utilization.

Required profile

• Board‑certified physician with extensive experience in intensive care medicine.
• Demonstrated leadership and training abilities for junior staff.
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a high‑pressure environment.
• Willingness to participate in departmental meetings, recruitment, and performance management activities.
