Consultant / Specialist Pulmonologist – Respiratory & Lung Medicine

About the role

A leading multispecialty hospital in Dubai is expanding its Respiratory Medicine and Pulmonary Care services. The Consultant/Specialist Pulmonologist will provide comprehensive care for acute and chronic respiratory diseases, working within a modern hospital environment equipped with advanced diagnostics and critical care facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage asthma, COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis and other common respiratory conditions.
• Evaluate and treat complex cases such as interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension.
• Perform and interpret pulmonary function tests, spirometry and related investigations.
• Conduct bronchoscopy and other pulmonary procedures when indicated.
• Manage sleep‑related breathing disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, and coordinate sleep studies.
• Provide inpatient consultations for acute respiratory failure and severe infections.
• Collaborate with critical care teams for ventilated or critically ill patients.
• Develop personalised treatment plans and long‑term disease‑management strategies.
• Educate patients on smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation and preventive care.
• Coordinate care with thoracic surgeons, infectious disease and internal medicine specialists.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or specialist qualification in Pulmonary Medicine (e.g., ABIM, UK CCT/MRCP, European Board, Arab Board, etc.).
• Minimum 3 years post‑specialist or board certification experience.
• Eligibility for DOH/DHA/MOH licensing in the UAE (support provided).
• Experience in outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations and pulmonary diagnostic procedures.

Required skills

• Pulmonary function testing and spirometry interpretation.
• Bronchoscopy performance and interpretation.
• Sleep study coordination and obstructive sleep apnea management.
• Interpretation of advanced respiratory diagnostic investigations.
