Consumer Field Technician - FTTH & GPON Networks

About the role

An experienced Consumer Telecom Field Technician is sought to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and service restoration of residential telecommunications services across the UAE. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with FTTH, GPON networks, fiber optic connections, ONT devices, routers and customer premises equipment, with strong technical troubleshooting and customer service skills.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot residential telecom services, including FTTH internet connections.
• Handle fiber optic connections, GPON networks, ONT devices, Wi-Fi routers and related customer premises equipment.
• Visit customer premises for new installations, maintenance, fault diagnosis and service restoration.
• Perform connectivity testing, troubleshoot internet and Wi-Fi issues and ensure successful service activation.
• Resolve issues related to fiber connectivity, ONT configuration, routers and network performance.
• Coordinate with technical support and operations teams on complex service issues.
• Provide professional customer support and keep work orders, job status, completion details and technical reports accurate in the assigned system.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment and technical materials, keep the vehicle clean and follow safety guidelines and quality standards.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of relevant telecom field experience, preferably in consumer or residential services.
• High school certificate or diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics or a related field preferred.
• Ability to work independently and travel to customer locations; a valid UAE driving license is preferred or required depending on project needs.
• Previous experience with UAE telecom operators or their field service partners is an advantage.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with FTTH installations, GPON networks, fiber optics, ONT devices and Wi-Fi router configuration.
• Residential customer installations, troubleshooting, maintenance and service restoration.
• Good communication, problem-solving and customer-handling skills.
• Familiarity with field service management systems, work order updates and technical reporting is an advantage.
