Contract Engineer - Ruwais

About the role

The Contact Engineer reports to the Site Manager, or to the Construction Manager when present. He is the first point of contact for managing subcontracts at site, ensuring their terms and conditions are properly interpreted and applied, and organizing the documentation needed for contract modifications and final settlement with subcontractors. The position is contractual, starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and explain contractual clauses.
• Provide the certification required by the contract for signature by the contractual representatives.
• Check that contractual obligations are fulfilled by the client and subcontractors.
• Compare expected final cost estimates against budget values.
• Review Subcontractors' Work Progress Status sheets before the Site Manager's approval, and prepare them for the Site Manager's signature for presentation to the client.
• Discuss with supervisors and subcontractors new prices, contractual amendments and claims, and prepare supporting documents for formal submission by the Home Office Subcontracts Unit (APPAL).
• Prepare field change orders and claims, together with the Construction Manager, for dispatch to the client.
• Prepare documents for the award of local subcontracts and the section of the monthly progress report.
• Activities may be supported by a Contract Assistant.

Required profile

• University degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Relevant experience in construction, modernization of industrial/refinery sectors or EPC large plant projects.
