Contract Manager – Pre‑Contracts Management

About the role

EDGE Group is seeking a Contract Manager to lead end‑to‑end commercial and contractual management of complex defence contracts. The role involves drafting, reviewing, negotiating and governing contracts while providing clear commercial recommendations to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, redline and negotiate a wide range of commercial documents, including customer contracts, sub‑contracts, framework and teaming agreements.
• Identify legal, commercial, financial and operational risks in proposed terms and develop mitigation and fallback positions.
• Lead negotiations with customers, government entities, prime contractors and suppliers, covering scope, pricing, warranties, IP, security and dispute resolution.
• Prepare comprehensive approval packages, highlight material deviations and risks, and maintain records for governance and audit.
• Produce regular status reports, maintain contract risk registers and support ad‑hoc strategic projects.

Required profile

• Strong contract drafting ability with meticulous attention to detail.
• Commercially minded, able to balance contractual protection with programme and business objectives.
• Highly organised, capable of managing multiple contracts and approval processes simultaneously.
• Proven experience working cross‑functionally with Legal, Finance, Program Management, Procurement and senior leadership.
