About the role
An exciting opportunity to join a fast‑growing international commodities trading business in Dubai as a Counterparty Credit Risk Officer. You will be responsible for assessing, monitoring and mitigating counter‑party credit risk across trading activities while supporting commercial growth and business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and assess counterparty credit risk exposures and daily receivables against approved limits.
- Conduct detailed credit evaluations, analyse financial statements, payment history and market intelligence, and prepare risk assessments for new and existing counterparties.
- Develop and implement credit risk management strategies, policies and governance standards.
- Maintain and update approved credit limits, oversee onboarding, and manage limit renewals.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly exposure and credit risk reports, extracting and reconciling data from ERP, ETRM and internal reporting systems.
- Support audits, regulatory compliance and senior‑management reporting on credit risk profiles and trends.
- Drive reporting automation, develop dashboards and collaborate with IT on system improvements and data quality initiatives.
- Work closely with trading, finance, legal, compliance, treasury and risk teams across multiple locations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
- 3‑5 years of UAE experience in credit risk, credit analysis, trade finance or risk management.
- Strong experience in counterparty credit risk assessment within a commodity trading or energy environment (highly preferred).
- Proven ability to analyse financial statements, credit proposals and market data to make informed risk decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced trading environment.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, complex formulas).
- Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation.
- SQL and Python for data extraction and analysis.
- Experience with ERP and ETRM systems.
- Knowledge of trade finance instruments such as letters of credit, SBLCs, guarantees and credit insurance.
