CRA Pipe Laying Barge Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas is looking for a third-party inspector with proven experience on Corrosion-Resistant Alloy (CRA) pipe-laying barges. The role covers quality assurance and verification of materials, welding, hydro testing and NDT work on oil and gas and petrochemical projects.

Key responsibilities

• Understand vendor and manufacturer quality system requirements and review vendor documents against purchase orders and material specifications.
• Carry out material receiving inspection of all permanent project materials supplied by the EPC contractor.
• Witness and verify procedure and welder qualifications; review and approve inspection and test plans and material certificates.
• Monitor, inspect and approve welding, welding procedures, NDT works, PWHT and pressure vessel, heat exchanger and pressurised piping inspection during fabrication.
• Review radiographs and NDT reports, sign weld and NDT logs, and witness hydrostatic and pneumatic tests.
• Inspect surface preparation, painting and insulation, and raise non-conformance reports while verifying corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports.

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, welding or metallurgical engineering.
• Minimum 12 years' experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas or petrochemical third-party inspection, including welding, process piping, mechanical equipment, painting, coating, wrapping and hydro testing.
• Ability to assess NDT procedures and review and approve multidiscipline ITPs, site queries, NCRs and concession requests.
• Very good spoken and written English, including technical reports, procedures and QA/QC documentation.
• Proven experience liaising with EPC contractors and CRA pipe-laying barges.

Required skills

• CSWIP 3.2, AWS-Sr, CWI or ERS welding inspection and PCN level II qualification desirable; BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1 certification required.
• Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO and BS codes.
• Computer literacy.
