Critical Care Medicine Consultant (Al Dhafra Region)

About the role

SEHA is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant in Critical Care Medicine to join its clinical team in the Al Dhafra Region. The consultant provides comprehensive care to critically ill patients, manages complex and high-acuity cases and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat and manage critically ill patients at consultant level
• Manage complex ICU cases such as sepsis, septic shock, respiratory failure, ARDS and multi-organ dysfunction
• Provide advanced airway management, mechanical ventilation and weaning strategies
• Provide hemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support, and manage renal replacement therapy and other organ support
• Lead resuscitation and stabilization of deteriorating patients and perform and supervise critical care procedures within the approved scope of practice
• Take part in ICU rounds and multidisciplinary discussions with Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Nursing and others
• Communicate treatment plans and prognosis with patients and families
• Support clinical governance, quality improvement, infection prevention, morbidity and mortality reviews and patient safety
• Supervise, teach and guide junior physicians and other healthcare professionals
• Participate in on-call and critical care coverage as required

Required profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD or equivalent from a recognised institution
• Recognised postgraduate specialty qualification in Critical Care Medicine / Intensive Care Medicine, or an approved pathway leading to it
• Meets the requirements for a Tier 1 Consultant in Critical Care Medicine
• Demonstrated experience managing high-acuity and complex ICU patients
• Consultant-level clinical leadership and multidisciplinary team experience preferred
• Valid DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant license in Critical Care Medicine, or eligibility to obtain it; qualifications must support the Tier 1 classification
