CSSD Technician

About the role

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient decontamination, testing, and distribution of reusable medical devices within the hospital. This role ensures that all equipment meets strict cleanliness and functionality standards before it is used in patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, dis‑assemble, clean, inspect and test contaminated equipment according to established protocols.
• Operate and test washer‑disinfector machines, driers, sterilizers and other decontamination equipment, reporting any deviations.
• Perform daily validation tests on decontamination equipment and maintain accurate documentation.
• Conduct quality checks for cleanliness and completeness of equipment before distribution to wards, departments and theatres.
• Issue sterile supplies, maintain stock levels, and assist with restocking as needed.
• Document receipt of goods, verify delivery notes, and record any non‑conformances.
• Communicate with colleagues and senior staff, and carry out assigned clerical tasks.

Required profile

• Associate Degree in CSS technology (minimum two‑year program).
• Certification from the Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) USA or International Association of Healthcare Central Services Material Management (IAHCSMM).
• Relevant licenses and registrations, including a DOH license.

Required skills

• Operating washer‑disinfector machines, driers and sterilizers.
• Performing equipment validation and quality checks.
• Documenting decontamination activities and results.
