Cultural Heritage Consultant | Manager Preservation Specialist

About the role

A full-time, mid-to-senior level Cultural Heritage Consultant / Historical Preservation Specialist is sought to protect, document and preserve historical sites, cultural assets and heritage resources. The role covers heritage assessments, preservation strategies, conservation projects and professional advice on safeguarding cultural and historical significance.

Key responsibilities

• Research and assess historical buildings, archaeological sites, cultural landscapes and heritage assets
• Develop recommendations and preservation strategies for significant properties
• Evaluate the historical, architectural and cultural importance of heritage sites
• Coordinate documentation, archival research, site surveys and heritage inventories
• Advise on conservation methods, restoration priorities and preservation standards
• Work with architects, historians, archaeologists, engineers, government agencies and conservation teams
• Monitor preservation and restoration projects against approved guidelines
• Prepare heritage assessment reports, conservation plans, research papers and project documentation
• Support initiatives on traditional craftsmanship, cultural traditions and community heritage awareness
• Identify risks to heritage assets and coordinate with communities and stakeholders
• Track developments in heritage conservation policies, international standards and preservation practices

Required profile

• Background in cultural heritage, historical preservation, conservation, archaeology, architecture or a related discipline
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in History, Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, Architecture, Conservation Studies or a related field preferred; postgraduate qualification an advantage
• Currently residing in the UAE, legally authorized to work there; tourist and visit visa holders are not eligible
• Must have a personal UAE bank account to receive salary payments
• Previous professional experience is an advantage but not mandatory

Required skills

• Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
• Familiarity with heritage conservation guidelines and preservation regulations
• Knowledge of GIS, digital mapping, archival databases or heritage documentation tools is an advantage
