Database Administrator (Manager Level)

About the role

Ultimate HR Solutions is recruiting a Manager – Database Administration for a leading organization in the UAE. The role covers the day-to-day administration of a large database environment, its security, performance, availability, backup and recovery, and supports database and application projects, disaster recovery, system upgrades and capacity planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support Oracle, MS SQL Server and DB2; ensure performance, availability, reliability and security; plan capacity and monitor performance
• Support installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades, and manage user access and security patches
• Support 24/7 database operations and critical business systems
• Take part in database infrastructure projects, architecture design, upgrades and migrations, and evaluate technologies against business needs
• Develop, implement and test disaster recovery solutions, maintain production, DR and testing environments, and run DR tests
• Support critical enterprise applications, including core and digital banking systems
• Maintain policies and standards, manage database licenses and follow IT service management, security and governance standards
• Automate routine tasks, improve performance, plan maintenance and communicate planned downtime

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field; Master's degree is an advantage
• Minimum 8 years of IT experience, at least 5 in a similar database administration role, preferably in banking or financial services
• Hands-on experience with multiple RDBMS, data warehouse systems and operating systems, in 24/7 environments and with large-scale, multi-user databases
• Preferred: experience with critical enterprise or banking applications
