About the role
The Database Specialist will manage, maintain, and optimise the organisation's SQL databases, ensuring security, performance and data integrity while supporting business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain SQL databases to meet organisational requirements.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability.
- Manage backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery plans.
- Enforce data security, privacy and integrity through access controls and encryption.
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimise queries and improve system efficiency.
- Create and maintain documentation such as data dictionaries and procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
- 8–12 years of experience in SQL database administration and development.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Microsoft SQL Server (or equivalent SQL platforms).
- SQL database design and development.
- Database security, backup and recovery solutions.
